Champions Cup

The Champions Cup is the ultimate yearlong competition between 10 schools, celebrating spirit, service, and sportsmanship! Inspired by the House Cup from Harry Potter, this friendly rivalry awards points to schools throughout the year based on student and community engagement. Schools earn points when their students, parents and teachers volunteer, attend community events, show great sportsmanship, complete surveys, and more!

At the end of the year, the school with the most points claims bragging rights—and the coveted Champions Cup Trophy, which they proudly house for the entire next year. Whether you're cheering on your teammates, giving back to your community, or stepping up as a leader, every positive action brings your school one step closer to becoming the Champions Cup winner!

Let the competition begin!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Champions Cup?

The Champions Cup is a yearlong competition where 10 schools earn points through positive actions like volunteering, participating in community events, displaying good sportsmanship, and more. The school with the most points at the end of the year wins bragging rights and houses the Champions Cup Trophy for the next school year.

How do schools earn points?

Points can be earned by students, staff, or teams from your school in the following ways (and more!):

  • Volunteering at City League community events
  • Attending approved community or league-sponsored events
  • Demonstrating excellent sportsmanship during games
  • Completing league surveys
  • Participating in league initiatives (e.g., Run-A-Thon, City Scramble)
  • Special "point challenges" throughout the year

Who can earn points for our school?

Anyone connected to your school—students, staff, coaches, or even families—can help earn points through their actions and participation.

How are points tracked and reported?

Points are tracked by the league. Schools may be asked to submit attendance sheets, survey completions, or brief forms after events. Updates will be shared regularly through league emails or an online leaderboard.

Can students see how their school is doing throughout the year?

Yes! A live or monthly leaderboard will be available so schools can track their progress and see how they stack up against other schools.

What do we get if we win the Champions Cup?

The winning school will:

  • House the official Champions Cup Trophy for the entire next school year
  • Receive public recognition at the end-of-year Commissioner’s Report
  • Get featured on league social media or newsletters
  • And most importantly—earn serious bragging rights!

Is there a limit to how many points one school can earn?

Nope! There’s no cap on points. The more your school engages, the more you can earn. Some opportunities may have limited points, but you’re encouraged to participate in as many as possible.

How often will new point-earning opportunities be announced?

New opportunities will be shared monthly via email and during league events. Keep an eye out for bonus rounds or surprise point opportunities throughout the year, these will be shared on our Instagram page @stlcityleague

Do points from previous years carry over?

No, each school year starts with a clean slate. Every school begins at zero and competes for that year’s Champions Cup.

Can points be deducted or taken away?

No, once points are earned they are included in the final point total.

How do we get involved or ask more questions?

If you have specific questions, reach out to the league coordinator or email allison.cousins@stlcityleague.com.
